Threadgill's Restaurant, Austin, Texas.

Monday December 12th through Sunday December 25th.

Picture of payphone

Rusty has submitted a payphone:

Hey:
The pix REALLY suck but here is a phone. It is in the open hallway in Threadgill's restaurant. If you are eating or working at T'gill's you won't hear it. If you are in the hall, waiting to get in or picking up a newspaper or something, you will hear it.

I got two rings and then the modem.

Ahhhh, that rots. Here we go again.

Do you have any pay phone number's in Portsmouth UK and Belfast Ireland?

No.

I had a nice conversation with Ashley, who was waiting to meet some friends inside Threadgill's. She was suprised that I was ringing from New Zealand. She sounded nice.

I got a nice Mexican man at Threadgill's just now. He understood everything I said but responded in Spanish (which I'm fluent in) and it was a good conversation about contrasting weather in Texas and Nebraska.

Called at 6:24pm from Sacramento (Go cockeyed!), rang 4 times with no answer.

I just talked to someone, sounded like they ran for the phone, short little convorsation, didn't catch there name but neat none the less.

There are no payphones at any McDonalds in Falmouth, MA I figured you might want to be informed. I called a woman and she sounded very upset that I had asked if it was a payphone, then asked if it was a residence yes it was. Thanks

Vern

What?

Heads-up from an Austinite: Threadgill's has a brunch early every Sunday, so that'd be a nice occasion to call in. Me, I'm thinking of getting a friend, some binoculars and a cell phone to see if we can catch the bands, or just random people. :p

Short but sweet one. Got some guy who was just walking past. Told him about Phoneswarm.com. Maybe he will scope it out.

Hi. I called the number and there was no answer....it just rang and rang and finally just a high-pitched, ear-splitting noise. My original plan was to see if I could get someone answering the phone to place a carry-out order at Threadgill's for me, making them think that I thought I was calling the restaurant phone, but instead dialing the pay phone by mistake. An experiment in human kindness, to see if someone would relay the order or whether they'd be more likely to just tell me to go f**k myself.

However, being that I was rather non-plussed by my ear drum being subjected to the loud noise, I hatched Plan B. I googled Threadgill's and got their phone number and actually placed a rather large carryout order, which I would be in to pick up in about "...oh 45 minutes.." I threw a few details like, "make sure the ranch is on the side, not like last time" to make it sound authentic, and asked them to read back the order.

Yeah, I know, that's kind of cruel to take advantage of people and/or businesses in the service industry, but I work in the service industry, too, so suck on it. Serves you right for allowing a payphone in your lobby to have such a high-pitched noise.

Merry Christmas

P.S. if you're in Austin, stop by Threagill's in about an hour or so, you might be able to get a good deal on a hamburger (and they might throw in a side salad, too - with ranch on the side, of course.)

You're really not a person who should be performing experiments testing "human kindness." Santa told me you get MEGA COAL this year. He also said some swears, something about "loathsome pettiness," and then he made raspberry noises for about fifteen seconds. Dude's got an awesome set of lungs from all the "HO"ing.

I just wanted to say that "R.W.H. in Clearwater, Florida" is a giant jackass. - Serra

That was really mean calling in a fake order.

What an ass.
