<x> ... three.

[The IT Crowd, series 1, episode 2]

A tidy meme for synopsising overly long narratives or wordy directives (see also “yadda, yadda,” “blah, blah, blah.”) In the episode, our plucky hero dials emergency services in time with his singing of the song. The flames have almost overtaken him by the time he reaches, then pauses a beat for, “three.”

V.O.: “Has this ever happend to you?”
[FX: Old woman falls down stairs, gets up and falls down second flight of stairs]
V.O.: “From today on dialing 999 won’t get you the emergency services and thats not the only thing that’s changing!”
[FX: Two people standing next to a new ambulance]
V.O.: “Nicer ambulances, faster response times and better-looking drivers. They aren’t just the emergency services, they’re your emergency services! So remember the new number ...”
Singers: “0118 999 881 999 119 725 ... 3”
V.O.: “That’s ...”
Singers: “0118 999 881 999 119 725 ... 3”
