[Eightball: Art School Confidential (November 1991)]
Taken from a word balloon in Art School Confidential, a story in Daniel Clowes’ Eightball comic book. The panel in question shows an art production person glumly going about his work, uttering the phrase “hope I die soon.”
When working as a production designer in the early 1990s I made a xerox
blow-up of the panel and posted it prominently in my workspace. Some of
my fellow employees took to uttering the phrase whenever in the midst of
some unpleasant task.
