FORM THE DIAMOND!
There is a subset of geeks that will play low-impact sports, but only if it is reasonable to assume that none of the players are taking the game “seriously.” On a volleyball team with three other like-minded individuals, we found ourselves facing three jock-types who were prepared to blow through the set undefeated. We decided that our sole competitive edge was psychological warfare. To that end, we quickly came up with a “diamond” court positioning system which was preceded by a guttural shout, “FORM THE DIAMOND!” This was bookended by high-pitched martial arts screeching and accompanied by a diamond symbol created with the thumbs and index fingers of both hands. Our PsyOps tactics slowly wore away at our opponents, and we won two games out of three.
