One of MTV’s early contests featured a top prize of a house located
in Bloomington, Indiana, John “Cougar” Mellencamp’s hometown.
The winner and 19 of her friends were treated to a concert at the house
and at some point John “Cougar” Mellencamp and the band did, in
fact, help the contest winner “paint the mother pink.”
