And it’s not part of the car!
[Raising Arizona; M. Emmett Walsh (March 6, 1987)]
In Raising Arizona, ambient actor M. Emmett Walsh plays a blathering machine shop supervisor, who afflicts the lead character with a series of increasingly bizarre, irrelevant stories. We’re only allowed to catch fragments, but one deals with a severed head: “There’s this circular object in the road, and it’s not part of the car!” Then, later: “He’s got a sandwich in one hand, and the fuckin’ head in the other!” Best used when someone’s telling a story with pronoun trouble, or you haven’t really been listening. Of course, they’d better know the macro, or you’ll get one hell of a blank stare.
